[개요] 캘리포니아 인스티튜트 오브 디 아츠(California Institute of Arts), 줄여서 칼아츠(CalArts)는 미국 캘리포니아 주 로스안젤로스에 발렌시아 (Valencia)에 위치해 있는 사립 예술대학교 입니다. 시각공연예술을 공부할 학생들을 위해 1961년에 월트 디즈니가 설립했으며, 디즈니는 “아트의 칼텍(Caltech of the arts)”을 만드는 꿈으로 부터 학교가 세워졌습니다. 칼아츠는 학사, 석사 및 박사과정까지 제공을 하고, 유학생들에게는 토플점수를 요구하며, 최소 80점 이상의 점수가 필요합니다. 더불어 영문으로 번역된 고등학교 성적표, 그리고 오디션과 포트폴리오도 요구하지만 학과에 따라 오디션과 포트폴리오 조건들에 차이가 있습니다. Institute of the Arts, colloquially called CalArts, is a private
university located in Valencia, in Los Angeles County, California.
It was incorporated in 1961 as the first degree-granting institution of higher
learning in the United States created specifically for students of both the visual and the performing arts. It is authorized by the Western Association of the Schools and Colleges (WASC) to grant Bachelor of Fine Arts and Mater of Fine arts in
the visual, performing, and, since 1994, literary arts. [Entry
Requirements] Admissions
to CalArts is based solely on the applicant's creative talent and future
potential. Every school within the Institute does require that applicants
send in an artist's statement, along
with a portfolio or audition (depending
on the Program) in order to be considered for admission. The school does not
review an applicant's SAT scores without consent of the
applicant, and does not consider an applicant's GPA as
part of the admission process. However, official high school transcripts are
required to be submitted and letter(s) of recommendation are recommended to be
submitted as well. International students must receive a minimum score of TOEFL
