루가노

루가노(이탈리아어: Lugano)는 스위스 남부 티치노 주에 있는 도시이다. 인구 56,719(2008).

이탈리아와 경계를 이루는 루가노 호 연안에 위치한다. 주변은 아름다운 산으로 둘러싸여 있으며, 루가노 호의 영향으로 기후가 온화하여 관광지로 이름이 높다. 오래전부터 사람이 살던 곳이며, 역사는 8세기에 시작된다. 이 곳 사람들은 이탈리아어를 사용하였으나, 이 지역은 프랑스에 점령되었다가 1512년부터 스위스에 속하게 되었다. 이후 복잡한 역사를 겪다가 1798년 성립된 헬베티아 공화국의 루가노 주의 주도가 되었다. 그 후 루가노 주가 티치노 주에 통폐합되면서 행정의 중심지는 벨린초나가 되었으나, 루가노는 스위스의 이탈리아 문화의 중심지로 발달하였다. 이탈리아 양식의 건물이 많으며, 15세기에 건설된 대성당이 유명하다. 관광산업이 발달하였으며, 스위스와 이탈리아를 연결하는 교통의 요지이다.
